A ?Superbad Day? at Franklin Pierce University: 5/4, 3pm to 10pm @ Softball Field On the first Sunday of May the Class of 2010 will be hosting a ?Superbad Day? at Franklin Pierce University. ?Superbad Day? will include a field day in the afternoon consisting of: · a Grill-Off · Extremely Fake I.D's · Superbad Trivia · an Obstacle Course · a showing of the movie Superbad at 8:00 p.m. Please come and enjoy the last Sunday before exams. New York City Tour: 4/26, 8am to 12am @ New York City Take a tour of Ellis Island & the Statue of Liberty; take a bus tour around downtown Manhattan; there will be free time in to roam in Time Square! Ticket price: $20. Tickets go on sale starting Monday, April 14. Sign up at the Info Desk with your I.D. We will be leaving from the Peterson Hall parking lot at 8 a.m. Please pack snacks. Sadie Hawkins "Night among the Stars" : 4/11, 9pm to 1am @ Pierce Hall It's that time Franklin Pierce! Sistuhs will be hosting its annual Sadie Hawkins semi-formal event this Friday in Pierce Hall. So girls, grab your guy and come dance the night away! Free food and drinks will be provided. Cool prizes and great music! Deliberative Dialogue Forum on "Responding to Hurtful Graffiti & Verbal Slurs: What Should We Do?": 4/11, 12pm @ Cheshire Community Room The appearance of racist, anti-Semitic, and sexist graffiti and the use of verbal slurs have generated anger, fear, and concerns about lack of civility and respect within the Franklin Pierce community. A growing number of students, faculty, and staff believe we need to act now to address this problem. The purpose of this forum is to develop ideas for preventing the use of hurtful racial, ethnic, and sexist speech and symbols. We will also consider how to effectively response to such incidents when they do occur. Chair Massages : 4/18, 10am to 2pm @ Human Resources Conference Room, Bottom Floor, DiGregorio Lauri Myre, a certified massage therapist from SMART Massage in Keene, NH will be on campus on Friday, April 18 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. She will be providing chair massages in the Human Resources Conference Room, located on the bottom floor of DiGregorio. Jose Lezcano, Guitarist: 4/16, 12:30pm @ Cheney Hall Cuban guitarist, Jose Lezcano will be performing a concert at Franklin Pierce University at 12:30 p.m. on April 16 in Cheney Hall. The varied program will feature music by Bach, Torroba, Tarrega, Aguado and others. Admission to the concert is free. Described by the New Millennium Guitar Magazine as ?a superb guitarist as well as a first-rate composer and arranger? José Manuel Lezcano has captivated audiences on four continents. His programs featuring both classical and Andean music have taken him as recitalist, collaborative musician, and concerto soloist from Carnegie Recital Hall in New York City to major venues and festivals in Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, China, the Czech Republic and Germany. Born in Havana, Cuba in 1960, Lezcano was invited to join the faculty of Keene State College in New Hampshire in 1991, where is Professor of Music and teaches courses in guitar, music theory, and Latin American music. He studied at Peabody Conservatory, University of South Carolina, and Florida State University where his teachers included Aaron Shearer and Christopher Berg. He also participated in master classes taught by Michael Lorimer, Sharon Isbin, and Leo Brouwer the noted Cuban guitarist and composer who referred to him as ?a magnificent guitarist --un guitarrista magnifico.? Fry Lecture with Wilma Mankiller: 4/29, 2pm @ Pierce Hall Wilma Mankiller's visit to Franklin Pierce University has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 29. The campus community and the public are invited to the Fry Lecture, from 2 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. in Pierce Hall. Mankiller, the former principal chief of the Cherokee Nation, will be available to sign books during the public reception from 3:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the Pierce Hall atrium. Science-Fiction/Fantasy Club and Gamers' Club

Uni-Con 2008: 4/26 @ Rindge Campus Uni-Con, a Sci-Fi/Gaming convention sponsored by the Science-Fiction/Fantasy Club, the Gamers' Club and several other Franklin Pierce University clubs and organizations, is looking for people to present panels at the con. The panels can be on any topic such as science fiction, fantasy, speculative fiction, anime, comics, gaming, or anything else you think might be of interest. Thoreau Art Gallery - "Cramped: BIG IDEAS, little spaces": 4/2 to 5/17, Mon. through Fri @ Thoreau Art Gallery, Peterson Hall The Thoreau Art Gallery and the Franklin Pierce University College at Rindge Division of Visual and Performing Arts proudly present: "Cramped: BIG IDEAS, little spaces" the 2008 Senior Fine Arts Show. All are welcome to attend the opening reception on Wednesday, April 2nd from 4 to 6:30 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge and Thoreau Art Gallery located in Peterson Hall at the University's Rindge Campus. Exhibiting seniors will be available to discuss their work which is also being featured across campus at satellite locations including the Library and the Monadnock Fine Arts Department. The entire show has been put together by the graduating artists and marks their completion of study at Franklin Pierce. This is the finale for these Fine Arts Majors. The show will run until University Commencement on May 17th. The Thoreau Gallery is open daily Monday through Friday and on weekends by appointment.
